ProArbora: what is it?

The project’s aim is to promote the preservation of valuable vegetation as irreplaceable part of urban and suburban areas. Citizens should be aware that this kind of vegetation could represent the main attraction of the border areas which might increase the presence of big flows of tourists to places rich in vegetation.

This project arises from the awareness that the cross-border areas, which possess a strong naturalistic potential, may combine tourism with the botanical features of the historical and botanical gardens and the sites of valuable green.

ProArbora provides census, classification  and mapping of the monumental historical specimens, even online; the realization and promotion of cross-border itineraries and routes; the restoration of the arboretus of Agricultural School of Gardening of Mezzana (Ticino); the award of  the European quality label for parks, gardens and botanical gardens and the training for the care and preservation of veteran trees.
